Last night as I was falling asleep, I realized something very profound:
You already know what you want in life and probably have an idea of what it takes to get it.
The major question is:
Why aren’t you doing anything about it?
What things are you resisting that you KNOW deep within that you MUST be doing every day for you to get what you want out of life?
Whether it is because of fear, procrastination, lack of a plan, written goals, or utter laziness, becoming successful at anything is as simple as knowing what you want and doing whatever it takes to get it.
Unless you become aware of your resistance and deal with it properly, it will be almost impossible for you to reach any of your goals.
In order to deal with resistance, you must first understand what it is.
What is resistance?
I first learned about the term after reading through The Sedona Method book by Hale Dwoskin some time ago. Basically, resistance is not being able to get yourself to do the things you know you SHOULD be doing and want to be doing.
When I first read about resistance, I thought it was too simple to be of a concept to be of any use, so I just stored it in the back of my mind and never paid much attention to it. It wasn’t until yesterday night that the truth behind the idea and how much it actually affects our lives made sense to me.
The question is: “Why am I resisting doing what I know within myself that I want?”
Well, truth is that the best person to answer that question for you is no one but yourself. What’s important is that you must realize that there are things you know you should be doing RIGHT NOW yet are resisting. Do you want to learn how to make money? Do you want to live a life of wealth and abundance?
Before you get anywhere, you must recognize your resistance and deal with it.
Dealing with resistance can be as simple as asking yourself: “What am I resisting about this situation?” followed by “Why am I resisting it?” Then dealing with it accordingly. You can always go through the Sedona Method course or book if you want to deal with the issue more thoroughly as there’s a whole section dedicated to resistance.
Resistance is a silent killer of dreams. Whenever you know you want something, yet find yourself procrastinating in order to do it, or even sabotage yourself right before reaching a goal, it usually has to do something with the concept of resistance.
While not many authors deal with this topic, I’ve found The Sedona Method to be one of the best ways to deal with resistance. Recognizing you are resisting something and taking action to resolve the issue also works.
If you want to be successful in life, or even get anything worthwhile done, you must eliminate as much resistance as possible from your life.
What areas of your life are you resisting? Find out then do something about them!
